Ingredients
Scale
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup warm water
1 packet active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
1 cup marinara sauce
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and salt. Add melted butter and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Roll out the dough and press it into a deep-dish pizza pan, covering the sides.
Layer the mozzarella cheese on the bottom, followed by the cooked sausage.
Pour marinara sauce over the sausage and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and oregano.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, omit the sausage and add more vegetables.
Let the dough rise in a warm place for best results.
Experiment with different toppings to customize your pizza.
