Classic Lasagna

A classic Italian dish made with layers of pasta, meat, cheese, and tomato sauce, perfect for family gatherings.

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  4. Add marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the beef; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a layer of mozzarella, and more meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, and topping with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with sautéed vegetables.
  • Lasagna can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
