A simple and quick recipe for making whole wheat bread at home.

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add whole wheat flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Place the loaf in a greased bread pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

  • For a sweeter bread, add more honey.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
  • This bread can be frozen for later use.
