Jack-o’-lantern cookies

Fun and festive Halloween-themed cookies shaped like jack-o’-lanterns, perfect for parties or treats.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring
  • Black decorating icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, then mix.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Mix until combined.
  5. Add orange food coloring until desired shade is reached.
  6. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into pumpkin shapes.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then cool on a wire rack.
  8. Use black icing to draw jack-o’-lantern faces.

Notes

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if too sticky.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
