  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 smoked ham hock or turkey leg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional minute.
  4. Add the collard greens to the pot and stir to combine.
  5. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and add the smoked ham hock or turkey leg.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover the pot.
  7. Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the greens are tender.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
