  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or cheddar)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and thyme.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in a greased baking dish.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the sweet potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining sweet potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
