  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons truffle oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Stir in the truffle oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
  8. If using, transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
