Biscuits and gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk (for gravy)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in milk until just combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  6. Roll out and cut into biscuits.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  8. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned.
  9. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir to combine.
  10. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened.
  11. Season with salt and pepper.
  12. Serve biscuits topped with sausage gravy.
